Weekends Away
There are two weekends away each year, one in December and one in June. These are a time to go away together to hear from God's word, and grow in relationship with both God and each other. These weekends away are always both fun and encouraging, and shouldn't be missed!
Here is one example of a typical weekend away with the CU to show you what we do.
Friday
We arrive in the evening, have a good old fire safety talk - wouldn't want to burn the place down! Then just spend the evening settling down enjoying time with friends, and possibly playing games.
Saturday
8.00 - Prayer meeting - each morning we have a prayer meeting. This provides an excellent opportunity to give the day over to God and to pray for all we have planned over the weekend.
8.30 - Breakfast- YUM, a good breakfast to start the day off is essential.
9.30 - First teaching session. We have a time of worship where we are really able to press in to God. We follow a topic over the weekend and this is taught on by our guest speaker!
10.30 - quiet time - it's great to be able to spend some time alone with God thinking about the teaching, following your own bible notes, reading your bible, or praying.
12.00 - lunch - another good meal, often a BBQ during the summer
1.00 - Second teaching session - pretty much the same layout as the first but with the second part of the topic!
1.45 - free time - time to chill with friends, play sports, sleep; shower, whatever you want!!!
6.30 - dinner - the best meal of the day, plenty of food for all.
8.30 - camp fire- standard- toasted marshmallows, and everything else you would expect!
Evening - chill, watch a film, talk, whatever you fancy. Then finally... BED!
Sunday
Much the same as Saturday. After lunch we have free time, and then pack up before it's time to depart late afternoon.
