About CU

The Christian Union is student led society that exists to equip and encourage students in their personal faith as well in sharing the good news of the gospel to students at the University. As students, we are best placed to reach other students for Christ. The gospel (as summarised by our declaration of belief) is central to the Christian Union. It forms basis of our unity, the foundation of our ministry, the content of our message and the fuel for our evangelism. We are supported by UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian fellowship) and working in partnership with local church's, we seek to reach out to students of all faiths or none.

The Christian Union weekly meeting is an opportunity for prayer, for receiving training or teaching relevant to student witness, for supporting one another or for planning together for events. Each week as well as our CU main meetings we have small/ cell group. This "team time" is central to the evangelistic effectiveness of the group. It enables us to refocus on God, to grow in their understanding of the gospel and to apply scripture to student culture. For a week during the year we also hold a 'mission week' where we hold events and lunch bars all through the week, with the aim of telling students about Jesus. Other aspects of the year include weekends away where the CU goes away for the weekend for Fun, fellowship and training.

Our Christian Union has members drawn from many diverse church backgrounds, committed to working together in gospel unity be they charismatic, evangelical, baptist etc. For this reason we are non-denominational. We are also affiliated to the Students Union Many students over the years have found that the Christian Union has had a huge impact in helping them through university. The CU has been a great place for making friends as well as having great fun along the way.
